1997年、サインツとモヤの組み合わせはフォード・ワールドラリーチームの主力として、ラリー・カタルーニャを含む各戦を戦いました。この模型はその一戦のゼッケン5番を記録した一台です。

90年代ラリーカー特有のリバリーを再現

90年代のWRCマシンは、現代のRally1世代に比べてシンプルな空力パーツを持ちますが、スポンサーロゴの数が多く、グラフィックの精度がリバリー再現の鍵になります。Ottoのレジン一体成形は、開閉機構を持たない分、こうした細かなロゴ配置やゼッケン番号の再現に成形精度を集中させています。フォードのラリーカラーが持つ配色の切り替わりも丁寧に塗り分けられています。

WRCクラシック世代を集める意味

エスコートWRCは、90年代のグループA規定下で戦ったモデルで、現行のRally1世代とは車両規定そのものが異なります。当時の有力ドライバーが乗った車両を1:18スケールで手元に置くことは、その時代のWRCを直接たどる手段になります。現行世代のラリーモデルと並べれば、空力パーツやリバリーの変化を一つの棚で見比べることができます。
